Presbyterian Ladies College Wellness in Motion

May – September 2025

In May and September 2025, an auditorium filled with 180 Year 11 students enthusiastically watched women personal safety videos produced by Anne Pang Self Defence in collaboration with City of Melbourne.

Between the videos, Anne facilitated discussions with the large group, generating interaction and feedback from the audience while emphasise the key points about the importance of self-awareness, and the reasons for practising self-defence.

Other key messages that were clearly conveyed included that the responsibility for any assaults always lies with the perpetrators and that everyone has the right to be safe and to enjoy life to the fullest without threats and intimidations from any gender- based violence.

The girls were highly engaged by the lively discussions after the videos and participated enthusiastically by answering questions based on the content. Part of their excitement was driven by the incentive that the first to raise their hand and answer correctly received a Personal Alarm with the Anne Pang Self Defence logo.

I have spoken with most of the teachers who were supervising the various sessions, and they all thought they were well conducted and our students were very responsive and participating well. Thank you Anne for all your care and superb organisation. ’ – Director of Student Wellbeing, Presbyterian Ladies’ College, Melbourne
